I am staying in a lovely place called the Padmini Haveli in Chittaurgarh (Chittor) at the moment. A Haveli is a home stay where you eat and mix in with the family (you can look it up at http://thepadminihaveli.com/home.html). Amita and Schlotti are the children of the owners and they are great fun and they say a big “Hello and Namaste” to everyone at Badgemore Primary School.
Chittorgarh is home to the Chittorgarh Fort, the largest fort in India. The town is famous for its heroic fighting spirit, where on three occasions in its history rather than surrender, the women folk have chosen jauhar (death by fire) and the men have put on safron robes before fighting to certain death in battle against bigger armies.
