Growing in the right direction!

The transformation at Badgemore over the last five years has been incredible! We are proud to have received two ‘Good’ Ofsteds and our pupil numbers are increasing. One of the areas we are particularly proud of is the development in our beautiful natural surroundings. It has taken a committed group of parents, children and staff, but we are getting there slowly. Here are some pictures to show just what a difference slow and steady progress makes to our school grounds over time. Before (December 2015) After (January 2020) Before...

Loving Reading Makes the Difference!

At Badgemore, we know that developing a love of reading makes a huge positive impact on children. That is why we make regular visits to the local library. Here are pictures from today’s visit by Maple Class: We think reading is so important that we shared 10 benefits to reading: 1. Children who read often and widely get better at it. After all, practice makes perfect in almost everything humans do, and reading is no different.   2. Reading exercises our brain. Reading is a much more complex task for the human brain rather than...

A Trip To the Postbox

Children in Laurel Class (Reception) learn through play and all learning is child initiated. This year, it has been incredible to observe the children develop a love of writing. They want to, and do write about everything including: Christmas presents, games they play, their family and trips they go on. Recently, our children visited the local postbox to post a letter to their families. Parents have shared that the delight on their children’s faces when these letters popped through their letterboxes was priceless! Click on the link to...

Fire Safety with Fireman Andy

What a day in Maple Class – elections, a visit from the fire brigade and tokens of kindness. Andy, our local fireman, very kindly agreed to bring his fire engine to the school this week and we all got a chance to learn about fire safety. “It was good because we got to go inside,” said Andrea, 6 years old. “We have been learning about safety and so it was great to have professional fireman here to tell us about their job. We learnt all about staying safe,” added Mrs Slade-Nowell. Straight afterwards, we shared our...

The Election Results are in!

It’s election day in Badgemore Primary School and throughout the country today. We are delighted to announce at 2:47pm that we were the first polling station to release our results. All candidates presented their arguments very well in the school hall debate and we appreciate their commitment to their causes. Manifestos are presented Mrs Slade-Nowell trying to persuade the community that a Non-Uniform Day is needed and worth a vote Mrs Monks had been working hard on the campaign trail. Despite the seriousness of the matter, laughter was...
