Rowan Class

Welcome to Rowan class!

We work closely with pupils to encourage and develop their individual strengths. The children learn in a supportive environment: this enables them to work collaboratively, undertake research and build up project-based work.  We give more emphasis to the variety and complexity of homework that is set.

Badgemore’s Blossoming Beekeepers

Henley Herald’s Article: Children All a Buzz at First Bee Keeping Club It’s spring so it’s time to check on Badgemore’s bees. The bees arrived at Badgemore last autumn and it was a particularly challenging winter. Unfortunately, one of family of bees did not survive which generated a new-founded hope that the other would prosper in the early spring. Today, Badgemore’s first ever beekeeping club kitted up in astronaut-like suits to inpsect the hive. Meghan, Zara, Seb, Hugo, Ella and James can all report that the...

Learning with HYF, but not as you know it!

This week, the Year 5 and 6 children met The Doctor who introduced the children to junk. The children learnt that when a pinch of creativity is added a metamorphosis takes place. Items that were seen as junk at the beginning became teleporters, mini parks, lip-sticks and even fairground rides. A huge thank you to Nick Garnett and the Henley Youth Festival for wonderfully different learning experience. When the large junk came out of the Ferrari van, look what happened… The Doctor introduces the mystery box. …and the box is opened...

Determined Runners Impress at HYF 2018 Race

What a wonderful morning Badgemore children and parents had at the Henley Youth Festival Race on Saturday morning. All children pushed themselves to the limit and ran exceptionally well. Notable results included Zara and Ernie (both year 1) who came forth and fifth respectively out of 30 in their year 1 and 2 race; Lucas who came second in the year 3 and 4 race and Nicolai who came second in the year 5 and 6 race. One event reminded me who ‘we’ are: This is Badgemore. One of our children struggles to complete his race and the rest...

We now have eight beautiful baby chicks, who are all happy and healthy. Six boys and two girls. You can tell who the boys are because their feathers are more yellow than the girls. The females are more of a browny orange colour. We are still keeping a careful eye on two of our unhatched eggs so… watch this space! Building up his strength Chirping around Huddling together...

We had to keep the eggs in an incubator to keep them warm, just like it would be in their natural habitat – under mother hen’s bottom. Excitedly, we all watched the incubator and, throughout the day, things started to happen. We saw cracks emerge and, when we listened carefully, we heard cheeping and chirping from inside the shells. It was incredible....
