Classes are arranged as follows:
Badger Class - Foundation Stage
Class 1 – Year 1/2
Class 2 – Year 3/4

We pride ourselves on maintaining small class sizes to allow childern to benefit from maximum adult support. Across the ages we make cross curricular links to make learning purposeful. We encourage cooperative learning, whilst providing opportunities to support and extend individuals.

Badger Class

Ages 4-5 Foundation Stage 2

Children can be admitted into the foundation stage full time in the September if they are going to be five during that academic year. If you are thinking of sending your child here, please do come and see for yourself what we can offer.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and work closeley with pre-school to ensure continuity. We aim to build on children's previous experiences from home and early years settings.

We encourage both child and adult initiated activities in a stimulating and secure environment, both indoors and outdoors. We have an excellent staff to pupil ratio and progress is monitored and recorded regularly to ensure early learning goals are met.

We pride ourselves on challenging all pupils to achieve their full potential by providing them with the tools to explore, create, question and investigate.

Key stage 1

Ages 5-7

In Key stage 1 the children experience a broad and balanced curriculum. The main objective is to set in place the tools and love for learning.  Topics/subjects are introduced through stories and other selected sources, giving children the opportunity to access information and begin to form their own ideas and opinions.  Our classrooms provide children with a well resourced and safe place to become independent learners.

l

Key stage 2

Ages 7- 11

In Key stage 2 the team of adults support and build on each child’s individual strengths.  The children learn as they complete projects, collaborate in research, share writing accomplishments and explore multi-media technology.  Increasingly as children progress through the school towards year 6 we elicit the pride of achievement as they become more responsible for organising and completing their own work.  Our aim is to create good students who take charge of their own learning.

Ages 11 plus

Our partnership secondary school is Gillotts School.  Most of our Year 6 children transfer to there and we have an excellent programme in place to aid a smooth transition. During the Summer term, the children spend four days experiencing life at Gillotts and always thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Gillotts also have open days but individual visits are also encouraged and welcomed. Please contact the school directly if you wish to set up a visit.
